Common Questions
1) How long will my child be in treatment?
The length of treatment depends on various factors. Some of them include the diagnosis, severity, and if the family practices the homework during the week.
2) How far do you travel?
We travel approximately 15 miles from my St. Joseph office to the surrounding areas around Berrien County. Please call if you have any questions if this includes your location.
3) How long are the treatment sessions?
The first initial evaluation session usually lasts an hour and a half to two hours depending on the child's age, diagnosis, and level of attention/motivation. For example, a language evaluation may be much more lengthy for a toddler than an articulation test for a 12 year old. Treatment sessions are 45 minutes including parent education.
4) Do you accept insurance?
We are a private pay practice. We do not accept insurance due to the amount of time it takes to confirm coverage, file claims, and cost required to hire another individual to take care of these clerical tasks. We accept HSA/FSA, check, and credit card. The family can submit a Superbill to their insurance and they can request reimbursement although Great Response Speech Therapy cannot guarantee coverage.
5) What is the cost?
Prices:
Speech and Language Evaluation: $125 including evaluation report
Therapy sessions: $75
6) Will you collaborate with my child's school based speech-language pathologist?
Happy to! Please send me his/her contact information and we can work together to make sure your child succeeds.
7) What if I cannot be at my child's session but want to be updated when I get home from work?
We can schedule an optional 15 minute phone call for a 20% charge to review what we did in therapy, progress, and ideas for carry-over.
